The Dish: Monday March 21st, 2011

Okay ladies and gents…. I know it has been a ridiculously long time since I have updated. My last post where I said I was bingeing basically turned into me falling off the wagon, super tough. But alas, many of my circumstances have changed, so I have good updates to report.

I moved to Phoenix on January 15th which means living alone (without the temptation of my moms fatty Southern food) and being on a tight budget. I decided that I was going to do the healthy eating again, and this time FOR REAL.

I am happy to say that I have been doing well for 6 WEEKS NOW, with almost 20 pounds lost! I was at 243 when I started and now I am at 225. 

Basically all I am doing is cutting stupid stuff out of my diet. I eat fruits, vegetables, lean meats (turkey, chicken, pork tenderloin, and fish), whole grains, lentils, and I only drink water and tea. Now, I do have a cheat day, once a week, every Saturday. I am VERY STRICT ABOUT THAT. I only eat junk between 12AM and 12PM on Saturday and I don’t allow myself to cheat AT ALL otherwise. Honestly, my body is so reprogrammed that I feel super sick when I eat junk. This works for me, but I’m not saying it will work for everyone. It holds me accountable while still giving me a reward that I can hold out the rest of the week for.

So, you guessed it, I’m not doing the vegan thing anymore, although I still love vegan foods and dishes. I’m keeping it really simply by eating on a budget. Honestly my diet consists mostly of instant oatmeal (not with the added sugary fruit), spinach, broccoli, apples, bananas, eggs, whole wheat toasts and all those meats I added.

When I first began I was snacking a lot more, I had granola bars, protein bars, and wheat thins, but now that I’ve gotten over the hump and reprogrammed my body, I find myself not needing them anymore.

Although I am happy with the weight loss, I’m about to kick in some exercise as well and see what I can really do!
